I have always been fascinated by the architecture of bridges with its majestic equilibrium. The first bridge that comes to mind is one that you can still find in the Vietnamese countryside. It is made of bamboo and crosses the little streams of the Mekong Delta. As a child, I amused myself by jumping over them without falling. Imagine the weightlessness of its structure, two long shafts supported by a few simple crossbeams that are barely any thicker, planted in the clay-rich ground. Despite this, hundreds of Vietnamese cross them every day.
Today, I take photos of bridges. Whether they are simple in a corner of the Parisian suburbs or magnificent in a city like Budapest, an architectural magic is still intact for me. I will also add a symbolic dimension of freedom that they create. With this work, I acquire a better artistic sense that lets me be more creative; it’s like putting flowers in the sky…
